Ecological Footprint Assessment of Concrete: Partial Replacement of Cement by Water Treatment Sludge and Stone Dust

نویسندگان

چکیده

Currently, most concrete industries use conventional cement (Ordinary Portland Cement) as a binding material which involves natural resource depletion, colossal CO2 emissions, and huge energy supply. The present study addresses this critical issue by using stone dust (sun-dried calcinated) water treatment sludge to replace partly in M20-grade production. environmental impact of ready-mixed (RMC) production with partially replaced other cementitious material, i.e., concrete, is assessed through ecological footprint (EF) indicator. Moreover, novel sustainability index proposed for plants scale the different types (or grades) on (environmental, social, economic sustainability). results showed that sun-dried could effectively (15% weight) comparable compressive strength over M20 concrete. EF RMC estimated be 0.02295 gha/m3. (with sludge) reduced 13.14% Ecological Sustainability Index (ESI) plant 718.42 $/gha. Using can an innovative solution because it simultaneously solves problem waste disposal, large carbon cost, high impact.

Ecological risk assessment of heavy metals from cement factory dust

Background: The release of metals from industrial factories is one of the most important sources of environmental pollution. The present study aimed to determine the concentration of heavy metals like cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), and lead (Pb) in dust around the cement factory. Methods: A total of 22 dust samples were collected from areas around the cement factory...

Partial Replacement of Metakaoline in Cement Concrete

Concrete is the extensively used construction material in the world. However, environmental concerns both in terms of damage caused by the extraction of raw material and CO2 emission during cement manufacture have brought pressure to reduce cement consumption by the use of supplementary materials. The utilization of calcined clay, in the form of metakaolin (MK) in concrete has received consider...

A Study on Strength of Concrete With Partial Replacement Of Cement With Quarry Dust And Metakaolin

Concrete a composite material made from cement, water, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate. But present researchers are in interest of finding new cement materials by waste materials or waste products produced from industries which are harmful to environment. The present paper deals with partial replacement of cement with quarry dust and metakaolin which are having silica used as admixture for ...

Replacement of Cement in Concrete

Cement is a binding material, a substance that sets and hardens independently, and can bind other materials together. In ancient civilization the binding materials were of traditional type such as jaggery, lead, jute, rice husk etc, now in modern civilization cement is main binding materials. The use of concrete containing high volume fly-ash has recently gained popularity as a resource efficie...
